I have been a patient on the Burn Unit for 31 days. During this time, I have received the best care from each and every staff member. However, there is one nurse who holds a special place in my heart and her name is Desiree Compton.
She has been a major part of my recovery! Desiree has been there for almost every single one of my surgeries. She always performs her duties in a professional clinical manner. She has also been there for me when I reached emotional low and manic episodes. She would hold my hand tightly and talk me through whatever mental turmoil I was facing, always making eye contact, and truly listening to me as I totally fell apart. Then she would talk me through it, reassuring me that everything was going to be okay. As the days passed by, I found Desiree to be like a friend. I always felt relieved and reassured when I knew she was going to be working as I faced surgery because I knew she would take care of me. So, in closing, I would like to thank her from the bottom of my heart.
