Desiree Cortes 2025, RN

Desiree Cortes is a night nurse in the ICU. This incredible nurse took care of me for a night after I had a procedure to remove multiple pulmonary emboli from my lungs. She went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable in a very uncomfortable situation. When I had to lie flat for over 8 hours, she did her best to reposition me with pillows to keep me as comfortable as possible. When she removed my sheaths, she knew I was in pain and took care to check with me about pain control prior to removal. During the process, Desiree talked to me to distract me and was a calming presence. When I could finally eat in the early morning hours, she checked on me and asked if I wanted anything. Then she spoiled me with snacks and other food all night. My comfort was a top priority for her, and I could tell she truly cared about me and the situation I was going through. She knew what she was doing and took the time to explain whenever she had to do something. When I had to go to the bathroom in bed, she was compassionate and understanding, cleaning me up thoroughly. Desiree is truly an incredible nurse, and if I or a loved one ended up in the ICU again, I would want Desiree to be there.
