Corporal Desiree Joy L. Liquigan (MS) PA exemplifies the compassion, courage, and professionalism that define a DAISY Honoree. Entering military service at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, she answered the call with unwavering dedication, embracing the dual responsibility of soldier and nurse. Since completing her military training, she has consistently demonstrated excellence in clinical practice, resilience under pressure, and an enduring commitment to providing safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care.
Assigned at the Emergency Room of Kuta Cesar Sang-an Station Hospital, 1st Infantry (TABAK) Division, Cpl Liquigan delivers timely, life-saving interventions for medical, surgical, traumatic, and combat-related emergencies. Her expertise in emergency nursing, trauma care, resuscitation, patient stabilization, and interdisciplinary collaboration has significantly contributed to mission readiness and quality patient outcomes. Her exceptional service is reflected in her participation in 270 medical teams, 76 patient referrals, 87 medical evacuations, 17 medical missions, and 16 retro-evacuations, consistently demonstrating clinical competence, adaptability, and composure in high-pressure environments.
Beyond bedside care, Cpl Liquigan has extended her service as a Private Duty Nurse for retired military personnel, ensuring they receive dignified and compassionate care. She also served as the Gender and Development (GAD) Non-Commissioned Officer, successfully leading and implementing gender-responsive programs, policy reviews, awareness activities, and initiatives that promoted inclusivity, safe working environments, and women's empowerment within the unit.
