I am writing to nominate Nurse Desiree for the DAISY Award after witnessing and hearing of her exceptional work in the ER Department. I have had the privilege of hearing of Desiree in action on several occasions, and her commitment to excellence, patient care, and mentorship is truly remarkable. I've heard of her work with preceptees and medical students, always taking the time to explain not just what needs to be done, but the why behind it. She goes out of her way to ensure that everyone, from the newest team members to medical students, fully understands the importance of each action they take. Desiree's dedication to patient care is equally impressive, and she cares for patients with relentless compassion, always going beyond what is required. Whether it was staying a few extra minutes with a patient who needed reassurance or going out of her way to ensure they were comfortable, she demonstrates time and time again that her priority is providing the best care possible. Beyond her patient care, she has a proactive nature in the ER. On several occasions, she stocks rooms and carts that were left empty or disorganized, ensuring that her colleagues would have the necessary supplies readily available. Her attention to detail in these tasks showed her commitment to the efficiency of the entire team. Desiree consistently demonstrates a willingness to step up and do whatever is needed to make sure things run smoothly.
