Desiree has given me and my father hope and the cheat codes to turn what we thought would be a death sentence within a year into something that will give my dad many more years.
My dad is a type 1 diabetic who has unfortunately been losing this battle for many years. For the last 10 years, my dad has been in and out of the hospital more times than I can count. Mainly for DKA with an A1C of 16, which is horrible. Over all these years, we’ve only dealt with Doctors Medical Center and Mercy Medical, which are supposedly renowned for their great service. But this time we came to Adventist Health here in Sonora, CA, because this is where we were during the time of the DKA. And let me tell you, never once have I ever seen a worker go so far to set my dad up for success. Some might just say that’s her job, but let me tell you from somebody that has dealt with MANY case workers from many different hospitals, Desiree went so over and beyond her job duties and what’s expected from her to make sure she found my dad affordable Insulin and I’m not talking just calling the first person that came to mind, I’m talking calling many different places, looking for many different plans, different alternatives he could take to help make it cheaper right in front of me giving me peace of mind that somebody was on our side and that we weren’t just a patient. Not only did she go over and beyond setting my dad up with your diabetic center. Desiree has been patient and compassionate. She has helped me grieve and find peace in this road ahead of us. Desiree has given me and my father hope and the cheat codes to turn what we thought would be a death sentence within a year into something that will give my dad many more years. Desiree is potentially going to be the reason my son gets to have his grandpa watch him graduate from school one day, so for that, we thank your hospital so much for having her.
