I have worked with Desiree for many years now, and her standards of behavior and work ethic mirror what it means to be an extraordinary nurse. Through her clinical expertise, compassion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to patient care, she proves her capabilities. When you pass by Desiree, you will be greeted with a warm, welcoming smile, and if there is time for a quick hello, she will always lighten your mood.

Desiree is one of the first to arrive if there is an emergency and is always willing to jump in if a coworker needs assistance. She is patient with new hires, treats her guests with respect and dignity, and her presence is not only felt but welcomed by all. Desiree is Mary Free Bed proud and enjoys her position, often encouraging others on the hard days and having laughs on the lighter days.

One moment that stands out was when Desiree cared for a patient who became critically ill quickly. The patient needed to be sent to a critical care hospital, and she not only cared for the patient’s needs but also handled the communication with all physicians in a calm, controlled manner. Her confidence in her skills kept the patient safe, and her demeanor kept the family members from escalating. She went above and beyond the routine care, taking the time to explain the process to all involved, listening to concerns, and offering comfort not just to the patient, but to the entire family. Desiree controlled the room and handled the intense situation with precision and quality care.

Whether it’s staying late to ensure a patient’s comfort, mentoring new staff, or advocating for those whose voices may go unheard, Desiree brings their heart and excellence to every shift.
