Born and raised in Cameroon, Africa, Desmond Atem learned hard work, resilience, and determination from an early age. Desmond lives a life of service and is inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s quote; “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” As a civically engaged citizen, he serves on several boards such as the Coalition of Advanced Practice Nurses of Indiana, Sigma Theta Tau Alpha Chapter (The International Honor Society for Nursing), and the Indiana League for Nursing. Being a Newman Civic Engagement Fellow and a Registered Nurse, he fosters excellence and quality improvement in his clinical practice, which earned him a selection for the highly competitive Indiana Rural Health Association Fellowship Program. He is passionate about health promotion and disease prevention. Desmond is a person of good moral character, integrity, and social acumen. His commitment to evidence-based practice is unwavering as he delivers the highest quality of patient-centered care.
