I am writing to nominate Destanie, RN, for recognition of her outstanding dedication, critical thinking, and compassion during a recent medical emergency that I personally experienced. Her actions not only demonstrated exceptional clinical expertise but also reflected her commitment to providing extraordinary care, going well beyond her duties to ensure my safety and well-being. 
 
On the day of my visit to the Emergency Department, I was experiencing a severe episode of difficulty breathing. Despite normal vital signs and oxygenation levels, Destanie’s keen awareness and clinical acumen led her to assess me thoroughly and detect critical signs that could have otherwise gone unnoticed. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, she immediately alerted the doctor, initiating life-saving measures that proved to be crucial. 
 
What makes Destanie’s efforts truly exceptional is that her shift had already ended. Rather than leaving or passing off my care, she stayed beyond her scheduled hours, ensuring I received immediate attention. She initiated an IV, coordinated with the respiratory team, and provided calm and compassionate support during one of the most frightening moments of my life. 
 
Today, as I recover in the critical care unit, I am immensely grateful for Destanie’s role in my care. Her swift decision-making, ability to collaborate with the ED team, and unwavering compassion undoubtedly made a difference in my outcome. Destanie exemplifies the highest standards of nursing and has left an indelible impact on me and my family. 
 
I sincerely hope that Destanie’s extraordinary efforts are recognized by the Emergency Department leadership team. She is a shining example of what it means to go above and beyond for patients, and I will always be grateful for her dedication and care.
