July 2026 Honoree
Destiny Harrison, RN, BSN
My son had been diagnosed with strep throat and was prescribed both an antibiotic and anti-nausea medication during his office visit. Knowing pharmacies can take time to fill prescriptions, I waited almost two hours before driving to pick them up, hoping everything would be ready so I could get home and help my sick child feel better.
When I arrived at the pharmacy, I was told there had been an issue with the office’s e-scribe system and that the pharmacy never received the prescriptions. They instructed me to contact the office directly. Each person I interacted with in the contact center did all they could do at the time to help, and I was eventually connected with Destiny in Nurse Triage.
From the moment she answered the phone, Destiny showed genuine compassion and urgency. She immediately understood the situation and recognized that this was not just about prescriptions; this was about a mom trying to care for her sick child. She went above and beyond by not only attempting to contact the office herself, but also taking it upon herself to collaborate with the pharmacy staff to come up with a solution to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
Throughout the entire interaction, Destiny remained kind, reassuring, and determined to help. Instead of passing the problem along, she took ownership and ensured sure my son could get the medications he needed. As someone who has detailed knowledge of how our contact center operates, I already know the incredible work our nurses do every day. But being on the receiving end of that care as a mother gave me an entirely different perspective.
In that moment, I was not thinking about workflows or processes. I was simply a parent worried about my child and wanting him to feel better. Destiny made me feel heard, supported, and cared for during this. Her compassion and dedication make an incredible difference for patients and families every single day.
