Destiny Leo is waiting in a drive-through line at a McDonald’s restaurant to grab some fries before heading to study with some of our classmates. She happens to look over and notices a car next to her with a woman and her dog in it. The dog had their head hanging outside of the window to enjoy the beautiful day. She happens to glance at the vehicle again and notices the woman’s head leaning to the side. All of a sudden the car accelerates forward hitting a nearby home, the dog flew out of the window in the mist of all the glass breaking of the vehicle Destiny immediately runs out to the vehicle to help. The woman was unconscious, having a grand mal seizure. Destiny immediately goes back to her vehicle and grabs a stethoscope to intervene and assess the woman. Then, she calls 911 and stays with the woman until help arrives. Destiny is in the middle of her first semester in the BSN Care Program in Shreveport taking health assessment. I am so proud of her for assisting in this scary situation. Eventually, the woman gained consciousness and did not know what happened to her. Thank goodness Destiny was there. I’m so proud of this student. She’s going to be a great nurse.
