Devan Russell was our nurse after our baby girl had open heart surgery. She was the first smiling face we saw after the dreaded surgery. She was so sweet and welcomed us with open arms when we arrived to see our baby for the first time after surgery. She explained all the wires and tubes on our baby, told us each thing she was doing, and why she was doing it. She continuously checked on both our baby and us. There wasn’t a cry from our baby girl or beep from a machine that Devan did not respond promptly and with so much love. There was not one instance where we felt like a bother to Devan. She was so very accommodating and willing to help with anything. It is easy to see that she loves her job and her patients. Ochsner is so very blessed to have such a compassionate nurse on this floor. Devan was such a shining light on a very dark road. The babies and children on this floor deserve nothing but the best, and Devan brings just that to work each shift she shows up.
