Devin is an amazing nurse! He is extremely positive and upbeat, but also very real. He had an excellent bed-side manner with our son and was patient, kind, and caring for both him and us. In a time when everything was scary and overwhelming, he was calm and stayed with us as long as needed until we understood.
My son was transferred to Mass General after a TIA and our lives were turned upside down. Devin was with us on our first and third day and was unbelievable with our son! He got him comfortable, made him a homemade basketball hoop to make him smile, and even made a snack menu at our son's request.
We can't say enough wonderful things about him. When my husband and I needed time to process things and cry, Devin would sit with our son and watch tv, play video games, play basketball, and play cards. I am not one to leave my child alone with someone else, but Devin made me completely at ease.
We were discharged from the ICU for a few days to then come back after our son's surgery. When Devin found out what day our son's surgery was, he rearranged his schedule so he would be there after his surgery! It was the best feeling to see a familiar face after our son's brain surgery. He made me, my husband, and our son feel so safe and cared for.
Words cannot explain how grateful we were to have him not only the first day but the day after! And I know this was a sacrifice for him to work two days in a row! We so appreciated it. Devin is knowledgeable, patient, funny, and an absolutely amazing nurse. All of our nurses were great, but Devin went above and beyond the call of duty!
