I see the gentleness and compassion he shows to his patients in the unit all the time.
The team of nurses that I work with are truly exceptional people. In some ways, each member has something special to give. I would like to recognize a nurse that has shown so much compassion and kindness toward me at a very difficult time in my life. This nurse probably does not think it was anything out of the norm but what he did meant so much to me and I will never forget it. Many stressors happened in my life in a short period, and I was not prepared to handle everything as I normally would. I found that having a work-family could make all the difference in the world. The selfless acts of my co-workers tug at my heart as they let me know I am not alone. I know that God put these special angels in my life to carry me through many dark days. I am grateful to each one of them. One of the nurses I would like to tell you about makes me want to "pay it forward" and be a better person.

This is my story... My husband fell and fractured his hip and had to have surgery, He then went on to rehab and finally returned home. I was on FMLA for a few days to care for him. A few days after returning home my daughter-in-law unexpectedly passed away. My whole family was broken. In addition, just when I thought I had all I could handle I became sick with Covid-19. Upon learning that I had Covid, I needed to get my husband tested so I had to drive him to his doctor's office. My doctor wanted some lab work on me, and he ordered medications that I was unable to pick up because I was in quarantine. This nurse made a list of the things the doctor said I needed, came to the doctor's office parking lot, dressed in his proper gear, drew my blood, and then took it to the lab. He went to the pharmacy and picked up the medications that I needed and delivered them to me. He also brought his own pulse ox monitor for me to use while I was sick. He had worked all night and still carried out all these tasks for me and I did not even ask him to. He just did it. This nurse has had a strong impact on me. I see the gentleness and compassion he shows to his patients in the unit all the time. He brings a lot of sunshine and color to our unit as well, by decorating on holidays and special occasions. He has a gentle personality and a willingness to go beyond and show honor and pride in his profession. This nurse is Devin Crownover, RN, and I believe he is very deserving of the DAISY Award. Thank you Devin from the bottom of my heart.
