I would like to take the opportunity to recognize Devon for her tremendous compassion and innovative solutions in providing care to one of our patients. Devon was able to help a young mother separated from her newborn while in the hospital for an extended period of time. COVID-19 restrictions prevented the patient from being able to see her children, including her new baby after she became ill and needed to be hospitalized for several days. Devon was able to coordinate with other departments and organize a way for this woman to see her baby following her own surgery in a safe way for both the patient and her children that also followed COVID-19 restrictions. It meant a lot to the woman that she had a chance to see her baby if even for a few minutes. Devon truly advocated for the needs of her patient while also following restrictions put in place to help keep the patient and her family safe.
