Devon Trimble, BSN, RN

Devon, the ACM of Neuropsychiatric Unit, goes above and beyond for both her patients and her staff. NSC has recently had A LOT of transitions with high acuity kiddos. This is all while we are in the middle of a pandemic and a mental crisis. She has taken lead in transitioning the move, as well as supporting staff. With our high acuity kiddos, she has led by example. She has shown empathy and care to kiddos that are sometimes really hard to show empathy to; these kiddos are highly aggressive and have inflicted harm to others including staff and herself. No matter what…she still is extremely compassionate and caring.

One of many examples of why Devon is a DAISY Nurse is her interactions with a patient who was highly aggressive. Devon took lead when one of our inpatients got into our ceiling, and attempted to attack her and other staff with a piece of ceiling tile. The BART team was called and the patient was very unkind to all team members. This kiddo was a kid in crisis, something all our staff acknowledges. An hour later, when the patient was regulated, she went to play cards with him. No matter what, she always puts her feelings aside and provides stellar care to the patients she serves. This was one of many escalations that the patient had. Devon served as a leader and advocate for this patient, reminding staff that no matter how bad or hard his behaviors are, this patient had many redeeming qualities. This is an example of how no matter what she put what was best for the patient first. This is just one of many reasons why I believe Devon is a DAISY Nurse.
