In a time of sadness, uncertainty, worry, and fear of what was to come next, Devynn was a shining light and a sense of hope in such a dark time.
Recently I had a family member who was admitted to the PCU. During her admission, she was newly diagnosed with Diabetes and had a very unexpected Cancer diagnosis that had already begun to metastasize. During her admission, she was assigned a nurse who turned her whole experience around. In a time of sadness, uncertainty, worry, and fear of what was to come next, Devynn was a shining light and a sense of hope in such a dark time. Devynn took the time to carefully explain everything in a way that was easy to understand. She went above and beyond to call my family member's children to ensure they remained informed about the next steps in the plan of care. She was extremely patient with a patient who was emotional and struggling to understand. Through these emotions came frustration and irritability. Devynn saw past the outer shell of "grumpiness" and chose to continue to put time and effort into making my aunt feel cared for both physically and emotionally. The dedication she showed to providing the best, complete care to my family member was unmatched. As a nurse here at Tidal Health Peninsula myself, the compassion Devynn showed to my aunt is second to none. She is a true gem that we are privileged to have as part of our team.
