It moved me almost to tears that my nurse cared not only about my present treatment for shingles, but that Deyanira cared about my emotional well-being and my continued recovery.
I was seven weeks into stroke recovery when I developed shingles in my eye, head, and face. Since only have one kidney, I was required to be in the hospital for IV antiviral treatment which can be harsh on kidneys. But I was so blessed to be able to some of my treatment at home with the Hospital at Home Program.

During one of Deyanira’s visits, I commented that I was concerned over losing ground with my stroke recovery because I could not go to Physical Therapy. Without any request from me, my nurse returned in the afternoon with a printed out chart of exercises and bands that I could use and do hat home. She had taken the initiative to speak with someone in the Physical Therapy department. It moved me almost to tears that my nurse cared not only about my present treatment for shingles, but she cared about my emotional well-being and my continued recovery. She was proactive in taking care of me as a whole person. She is an exceptional nurse who goes the second and third miles to take care of her patient. My wife and I will be eternally grateful for her care these past few days.
