Diana E Cohen, BSN, RN, CMSRN, CCRN

Diana Cohen is an exceptional and compassionate person and embodies what nursing and teamwork are all about. One particular example of this is when she recently floated to another ICU to care for a patient on ECMO support. Floating can be a stressful experience for any nurse, especially when caring for those that are critically ill, but Diana took it in stride. Towards the end of her overnight shift, another patient on the unit passed away. Diana volunteered, as the only nurse of the Jewish faith on the unit at the time, to provide post-mortem care to the patient. She knew how important this was to the patient and his family so she went above and beyond to ease the families suffering by reciting Jewish prayers and providing post-mortem care per Jewish customs. This was not her assignment but she showed a tremendous sense of teamwork and the staff and family were greatly appreciative of her efforts.
