Diana Hammond made an excellent catch today for a patient who needed a pre-op EKG performed and it came back abnormal. Diana saw the notation that the EKG was abnormal, she reviewed the history and saw this was a new onset abnormality and repeated the EKG to confirm the result. After confirming that the patient was stable and asymptomatic, she then made anesthesia aware of the new finding and the surgeon was also contacted. The case, which was a non-urgent elective case, was then canceled after review by the care team. The case would be rescheduled after a cardiology consult and clearance.
