During our time at the hospital waiting to give birth to our baby boy, things were very busy. At this time, the staff had multiple patients to care for; however, our nurse, Ms. Hawkins, never made us feel like just another patient. Throughout the process, I expressed my feelings of being afraid due to my previous labor/birthing experience, and Ms. Hawkins was never short of understanding and care. She was very reassuring and made me feel heard! She made sure to listen to understand!

Ms. Hawkins made sure to advocate for me when in pain, and when my blood pressure and baby’s heart rate dropped, it was well evident that she had the skill set to ensure we were both taken care of in a timely manner. During my son’s birth, things moved more quickly than expected, and thankfully, Ms. Hawkins was there to deliver him! She stayed calm during this time, so my husband and I both remained calm as well! Overall, this was a great experience for me because of the excellent nurse we were given! Ms. Hawkins stood out to us not only for her knowledge and skill set but also because of her ability to be personable with us! This is what makes a great nurse!
