Diana embodies what the Daisy Award symbolizes.
Diana Schettini is a registered nurse who works in the Department of Radiation Medicine at the Zuckerberg Cancer Institute. Diana has been an integral part of our department for over 20 years. Her experience and clinical expertise are matched by her compassion and caring nature. Diana defines what it means to be a Daisy Award winner.

Diana specializes in the care of patients receiving Gamma Knife Radiation, External Beam Radiation Therapy, and Brachytherapy for a diagnosis of head and neck cancer, skin cancer, pancreatic cancer, and brain, and central nervous system cancer. The level of personal and professional dedication she provides to this patient population is not only impressive, but it is heartwarming and honorable. Our department receives letters, calls, and positive press ganey surveys from patients sharing how Diana turned the scariest days of their lives into an experience they grew from, persevered, and conquered. She fills her patients with hope and strength. Diana also selflessly heads our preceptorship program for the department. She oversees the oncology nursing cohort fellows and provides them with education on radiation treatment, side effects, and symptom management. She leads our preceptorship program for the Nassau Community College radiation therapy students. This weeklong program requires great attention to detail by Diana since Radiation Therapists have minimal knowledge of nursing care of radiation oncology patients. On top of that Diana precepts our MOA externs. I received high praise from her mentees regarding her thorough education and passion for radiation medicine. She demonstrates professionalism through successful mentorship and has a passion for educating the next generation.

Diana embodies what the Daisy Award symbolizes. She is an asset to the Zuckerberg Cancer Institute and an integral member of the Radiation Medicine Department. Diana is an ideal candidate for the Daisy Award and it is my great pleasure to nominate her. I appreciate your consideration.
