Diana Smith is an exceptional nurse and alternate charge nurse. She always advocates for her patients to get what they need and when there are condition changes.

Recently a patient came into the hospital as a MI alert. He went emergently to the cath lab and Diana was his nurse when he came to the unit. She immediately went to work. She did his admissions history, physical assessment, consultation with the physician and with the care coordinator to determine the patients needs.

As the day progressed the patient had changes in his condition and pain levels. Knowing that he was at risk to extend the heart attack knowing he needed further procedures done to improve the circulation to his heart, she was on the phone to the doctors, treating the patient's symptoms and getting a 12 lead EKG. The patient was promptly taken back to the cath lab.
