Diana Watkins was nominated by a family member of a patient that had passed away. While working her shift with the family at the patient’s bedside, Watkins helped them cope with the patient’s passing. Her caring demeanor was much needed at a time when the loss of their loved occurred. Her compassion toward the family will not be forgotten. “It truly is a privilege and humbling experience to care for patients and their families especially during the dying process,” says Watkins.
“We all come to work never expecting a typical day. Diana gave the family, as well as her patient, the emotional support that is an unforeseen, and often unrecognized, part of the job,” says registered nurse Terri Luke, Medical/Surgical Department director.
