Diane Benshoof is a long standing employee at Methodist that has kept her skills sharp by constantly challenging herself. In addition to working full time on 6 South, she has a casual position on IV team, fills in as a School RN, continually orients new employees or precepts students and in a pinch can fill in for Wound Care.
Last year she became part of the pilot group that took the Agewise training. Diane has always been exceptional at addressing patients in difficult situations, but I believe has become even better. The following excerpt from a letter is a testament to her abilities and exceptional bedside manner…
“…J’s hospitalization was very difficult as she was experiencing intractable pain. We are both nurses and as such I know we were demanding of the nurses’ time and attention. My family and I are most appreciative of the patient and empathetic care J received on her last two days of life. J’s every need was met to the extent humanly possible by her team. Although it was impossible to relieve her pain completely, there was no hesitance to keep Jeanne as comfortable as possible. Diane’s astute observation skills enabled her to stay ahead of the changing situation, keep the doctors informed and obtain new orders as quickly as possible. It was a pretty fast paced situation on the final day and these three women (Diane, Kayla and Judy) could not have
