At the age of 41, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. As part of my treatment plan, I'm having weekly chemo treatments at Overlook due to insurance issues. To say I was terrified the first day I walked back to the infusion room would be an understatement. As I settled in a chair in the corner, through teary eyes, I saw Dini's smiley face as she introduced herself. Throughout the day, Dini with her positive uplifting self would come check on me and make sure there was nothing I needed. That first treatment ended with a hug from Dini.
In between my first and second treatments, I was notified the insurance issue had been resolved and I could start having my treatments at Summit Medical Group. Because of Dini, I chose to continue to have my treatment at Overlook. She not only is an overwhelming cheery person, which a person going through chemo needs, but she is also very thorough. I've been impressed that every week she talks to me about changes in my blood work and confirms with me any changes in my medication week to week. Every treatment starts with a hug and ends with a hug from Dini.
On my first day of treatment, Dini commented, "we are the people you never want to meet." While that may be true, due to her overwhelming care, kindness and positivity, I'm thankful for meeting Dini on my journey.
