Diane Diver, MSN, RN, CPN

Diane Diver is the true definition of a Nurse Leader. I have worked under her leadership for almost 23 years here at CCMC, so I know first-hand the type of leader she is. I spoke of this story recently, and I will share with you here: While conducting an RN interview recently I was asked by the candidate who my role model is and why. I didn't even pause to answer, Diane Diver. I told this candidate as a leader, she has always led with integrity, honesty, and compassion, and I try to lead as she does. There is no guessing when it comes to her, what you see, is what you get.

I first met Diane when I was a clinical RN on Med 3 and she was the ANM. As a novice nurse, Diane took the time to explain the patients to me, what to look for and ultimately how I should be as a nurse. As I transitioned into the ANM role, it was Diane who again, taught me how to be an ANM. I always knew I needed to come to her with a solution to the questions I would ask her, and no matter what I need to act with integrity.

Later as I became a HOA, and now a Nurse Manager, Diane continues to influence me as a person and as a leader. There is not one specific example, yet I feel as if her whole career here as a leader exemplifies what it is to be a DAISY Nurse Leader.
