Diane has been working in Hem/Onc for over 30 years. She is an excellent nurse who exemplifies family-centered care. One particular day stands out for me. Diane was caring for a young patient who had frequent visits to our DH. The family was having a very difficult time as the patient's mother was also very ill and she had 2 other siblings. The father was managing all this on his own. This day, the father was very upset because he felt treatment was taking too long. Diane spent a great deal of time trying to expedite the care of the patient. She spoke to the father several times to try and find out why he was so upset. She found out that the other children had dental appointments and the father was worried that he would be charged for the missed appointments. Diane called the dental office and explained the situation and arranged that they would not incur fees for any future missed appointments. The father was very appreciative of Diane's assistance. This is just one example of the excellent care Diane provides on an ongoing basis.
