Diane is the sole nurse in the surgery clinic for the Southern Region of Colorado. She consistently performs exceptional family-centered care for patients before and after surgery. During office visits, Diane collaborates with the provider to guide children and parents through upcoming surgical procedures, including education and support. Post-op visits with Diane and the provider allow for ongoing support and education.
Diane exhibits outstanding customer service skills with telephone triage and My Chart. She addresses parent concerns with a caring, reassuring manner to calm families and recommend a plan of care. The day before surgery, Diane also calls parents to provide pre-op instructions and answer questions. Diane is autonomous in her practice with nurse visits to help families with g-tube problems, post-op concerns, and hands-on education. Care coordination with home care needs, referrals, and diagnostic testing is another role she fulfills.
Diane demonstrates expertise with g-tube assessment and maintenance by supporting other clinics when they encounter g-tube patients. She models inter-professional communication when collaborating with the surgical providers, schedulers, RNs, and MA staff. Diane improves nursing practice at Briargate by arranging a community liaison to provide staff education. The education allows staff to understand and meet the unique needs of the refuge patient population. The best qualities Diane exhibits are her positive attitude, smile and willingness to go "above and beyond" for her patients with humble expertise.
