Sometimes it takes a village to achieve the mission of giving exceptional care to our patients. Recently, this was demonstrated by a group of nurses from Minor Procedures and PACU who joined forces and worked together to care for one of our patients recovering from a surgical procedure. One of the team members was Diane Wolff. Diane went above and beyond, giving of her time to help us determine if the patient’s midline catheter was infiltrated. The midline was discovered to be compromised and needed to be discontinued and could no longer be used. Diane did not hesitate for one second but immediately gathered all the equipment needed to establish a new midline IV for the patient. Diane told me that she “could not just leave” even though her shift was over, and she went home without helping the patient.

Diane exemplified what the PRIDE values stand for as a member of the Atlantic Health team. She exhibited professionalism and competency in dealing with the difficult situation our team faced. Her display of respect, kindness, and compassion for the patient was clearly demonstrated by her actions. A positive outcome was achieved for the patient, with all team members working collaboratively together alongside Diane, who was our key component.
