Dianne is an exceptional nurse at BCH. I had her as my nurse for many nights while in the ICU unit. She is incredibly special to me because she made me feel cared for while I was going through one of the most difficult times of my life. I was a patient at BCH for about a month, recovering from 2 heart surgeries and a stroke. My stroke left me with limited abilities in both physical movement and speech (at the time of my stay) and Dianne provided care for me that was above and beyond the typical duties of a busy ICU nurse. I remember having a lot of trouble relaxing and sleeping, but one of my most prominent memories from this period in my life was involving her.
One night, I believe she was also acting as the charge nurse for the unit but was also my primary nurse for the night shift. Somehow, she found time amidst the chaos of her busy evening at work to give me a spa night, right there in my ICU room. She filled buckets with warm water, played relaxing spa music, massaged my sore neck with warm washcloths, and brushed out my hair as much as possible, neatly pulling it into a ponytail so as to keep it out of my face. I remember feeling extreme relaxation for the first time in months.
The care Dianne provided was genuine; she was gentle and kind always and I appreciate her so very much. Thank you, Dianne! You truly made that night wonderful; I'll never forget the care you showed me
