Seeing my husband each day in his declining condition was very difficult for me. Some days were particularly hard when he desperately tried to get out of bed, wanting to go home or sit in a chair. Other times he was disoriented, or his body was having trouble adjusting to the tube feeding.
Dillon was always so kind to us. You could see empathy in his face, and in his manner of dealing with patients. He was never in a hurry to just get the task done. He lovingly cared for his patients and their families. On particularly difficult days when my husband was agitated or uncomfortable, I would tell myself, "just make it to the evening shift and Dillon will take care of him." He always did. I could leave the room and come back in 5 minutes and my husband would be in bed comfortably placed and asleep.
