Nomination submitted by the mother of Dina’s patient:
Dina was the day nurse for my 18 year old son after he had a motor cross accident resulting in a six hour surgery to remove 70% of his pancreas. For the week that he was on her unit she continuously went well above and beyond what a nurse is required to do. She made it a point to get to know my son and to treat him as an individual; using her bubbly personality and sense of humor to help him through the realities of post surgical recovery. A NG tube, discussions of necessary bodily functions and even a “hands on” introduction to enemas was gracefully handled, keeping him smiling and comfortable throughout the entire process.
Dina was professional yet compassionate, skilled, and committed to making sure my son was comfortable and well taken care of. She even stayed past her shift to be with him to receive important test results!
I am sure that my son’s recovery progressed so well, at least partly if not greatly, due to the exceptional care Dina provided him.
