I met Nurse Dolly my second day at the hospital. I was there to have cancer removed from the kidney. She was very kind and friendly. She introduced herself as my nurse for the evening. She explained what my goals were and how to meet them. Each time she interacted with me she would explain what she was doing and what the results should be. She would always say if there's any problem to contact her. Nurse Dolly always demonstrated excellent clinical skills. She provided excellent customer service. She was compassionate about my needs and the needs of my family. She was always respectful to my family and her colleagues. She demonstrated teamwork with students who were learning to become our future nurses. She also demonstrated teamwork with her colleagues by assisting with other patients and passing information as the shift would change. She went out her way to see that I got the proper foods to reach my goals. If food service didn't have it on the menu when I was craving ice cream, she made suggestions on how to get it and next time she would make sure food services would have it. Nurse Dolly was my nurse for two days straight and she owned my patient care.
