I had a patient that needed a Murphy drip, and after much difficulty with irrigation, I had called Surgical Services to see if they could offer any advice. I talked with Dolly on the phone and she suggested trying a new catheter.
As I was trying to irrigate with the new catheter, she came down to the department and said, "I had a couple minutes so I thought I would come down and see how things were going and see if I could help at all." She came into the room and stayed with me and the patient for a good 30 minutes until we could get things worked out. She assisted us to manage the patient's pain, give therapeutic communication, and stayed long enough to help us get things working! I just wanted to let you know how wonderful she was and that we really appreciate the support. She really deserves to be recognized for supporting an outside department and sharing her wealth of knowledge! I was so appreciative that she came down to our department to assist us without me even asking. Also appreciative of the staff who was kind enough to manage her patient load long enough for her to come down and save the day!
