During this time of need, Domeka has been detailed to the inpatient units. Domeka Harris LPN led a code for a patient who was in V-fib. She used skills that are not often used working in the primary care clinic. With her leadership, the patient was able to be resuscitated and transferred to the ICU. She used her compassion and made sure she checked on the patient often. Instead of waiting for the RN, she called the code and began the process, using empathy. Her patients, coworkers, and friends trust her to always make the right decisions. I personally admire her and doing what it takes to take care of her patients. I have known her for 5 years and she is the perfect example of what nursing is all about. She is the definition of selfless, always giving everything she has to take care of her patients. In a time where being a nurse is difficult, she exemplifies leadership and proves that LPNs can take control of a situation where the patient needs extra assistance. LPNs are made to feel like we are not good enough to work inpatient, but if she had not been there is no telling if the patient would still be alive. I am thankful she was there and even more thankful to be an LPN.
