I am an 80-year-old male who required significant spinal surgery involving 4 days in the hospital with no visitors allowed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
To say that I was apprehensive, as I entered the hospital and bidding farewell to my wife, minimizes my state of mind. Following successful surgery of approximately 3 hours, I was fortunate to be placed on this unit of the 'Tower'.
One of the first caregivers I recall meeting was a young nurse by the name of Dominique Fini. During my stay, she was one of many well-qualified nurses or aides who assisted me during my stay. In my attempt to recognize Dominique's qualities, I do not mean to overlook or ignore the marvelous qualities of all who were present, throughout the 4 days and nights, assisting and caring for me as needed.
Dominique stands out in my memory because of her compassion, concern, caring attitude, her kindness, interest, and responsive efforts to allow me to be comfortable. She took the time to listen, to respond to questions, and to convey an attitude of "you are going to be OK" through her gentleness and constant smile.
Thank you for the opportunity to attempt to recognize this nurse for her outstanding qualities as a Nurse and Caregiver!
