Don was recognized by a grateful family who felt he should be nominated for nurse of the year! They felt that Don went the extra mile as charge nurse and that they experienced his expertise when he walked into their mother's room. They commented on the passion and deep respect that Don was able to convey to their mother and they specifically noted the way that he listened to hear, not to respond. They described a particular situation in which Don was able to contact a physician to make their mother more comfortable and, in the meantime, made a few suggestions that were "exactly what she needed". They referred to Don as a blessing to the profession.
