Dona is the epitome of what every nurse should strive to be. She is compassionate to her patient and families. The knowledge she brings to the bedside is unmeasurable. She takes care of the most critically ill patients in the CV. She is a valuable resource to new nurses and ancillary staff. She loves to teach you whenever you ask her a question. She works so hard every day she is at work and often flies under the radar because she doesn't want to draw attention to herself.
The nurses know that when Dona is here she will always have their backs in emergent situations. Just knowing she is here brings a sense of calmness and peace to the unit. You have nurses that do all these extra little things and get nominated, but the quality of care that Dona provides daily to her patients goes above and beyond anything else. Dona is and will always be a Super Nurse to me. They really don't get any better.
