Our daughter, P, was brought to CHI Memorial by ambulance Friday evening. We were out of town but had the opportunity to speak with the nurses in the Emergency Center regarding her condition. Later, we were called by the physician, stating that our daughter had passed. Every person we spoke with was so helpful and kind. We were over 3 hours away from Chattanooga, grieving, and asked that we see our daughter one last time.

We were put in touch with the House Supervisor, Donald Johnson, who made arrangements for us to see our daughter even though it was an hour later than what was allowed. We met with Donald who brought us to a room where we were comforted by some of the Emergency Department staff and allowed to grieve over our daughter. Her hair was lovingly combed and her face was cleaned. We learned later from Donald that the nurses had prepared our daughter specifically for our last visit with her. Although this event was incredibly sad, we were blessed and comforted by the loving, beautiful efforts of Donald and the nurses. This caring, heartfelt, beautiful treatment is beyond words found in any job description or in any employee manual. The loving human kindness was selfless, inherent, and genuine.
