December 2023 Honoree
Donald Pooler, RN
We wanted to nominate Don because of his kindness, caring, and compassion in the final days of L’s life. Even though at the end, L was not coherent, Don treated him with respect during every moment of care. Don communicated with the family and other nurses and doctors regarding L’s care every step of the way. Don ordered a hospitality cart for us, checked on us frequently, and worked to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Don’s calm demeanor in a stressful situation makes him an excellent nurse. He answered all our questions, no matter how stupid or silly they may have been. He went above and beyond. Don was very patient with Les and the whole family as we navigated this process. Don spoke to Les kindly through the entire experience even though Les probably wasn’t aware of what was going on at the end. We can’t say enough kind words about Don, he did an excellent job caring for our husband and father during the most difficult time.
Thank you, Donald, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
