October 2019 Honoree
donald sellers, RN
Recently, Donald was taking care of a very difficult patient. This patient was highly autistic and functioned as a 3-year-old would. He took a lot of patience and redirecting. He had done well with Donald being his nurse.
Donald is always compassionate, but this patient needed boundaries set and Donald did just that. He listened to him thoroughly.
At the end of two long shifts with this patient, I walked by and saw Donald reading him a Dr. Seuss book. The patient was smiling and looking comfortable.
Donald did an excellent job of showing compassion for this patient. A beautiful relationship grew between these two.
I am proud to work with nurses who go the extra mile to make patients comfortable in a scary environment.
