I just can't let this opportunity go by to congratulate one of our outstanding nurses! This nurse came to my assistance on a Rapid Response call, without hesitation, provided professional care to an unstable patient. He provided ultrasound IV access and by doing this helped the patient achieve stability. This patient was a post-op crash C-section, large EBL-6L +, one non-working IV, who needed a trauma pack and had a Pitocin Gtt infusing. Who is this awesome person? Why Don Shannon, of course! I have asked for his help before in obtaining IV access for patients or just needing experienced help in a situation.
Long overdue kudos to Don. Always a big friendly smile, relaxed demeanor, and makes you feel secure in knowing the best help has arrived. Don always looks at the big picture what will benefit the entire facility, not just his unit. He is always humble when I give him a big thank you, "No problem, we're all a team". He is also a great example of open communication and collaboration. Please consider Don for a DAISY Award.
