Nightshift in the CCU, a new patient who had coded in the ED and there was a lot to do to get the patient settled, he was unstable, bradycardic and intubated.I was the nightshift RN for this patient. Donald "DJ" displayed leadership, support, strength and critical thinking while helping me, his own patients and other nurses on the floor. DJ stayed in my patient's room to assist me and the physician for line placement and other needs, putting his own tasks on hold.DJ exemplifies a true "charge" nurse and leader as he is always willing to help with a smile, sense of humor and compassion for his coworkers. I truly enjoy working with DJ and I feel more comfortable during my shift when he is in charge. DJ is a valuable member of our team and the hospital, a strong leader and wonderful co-worker.
