My husband loved to go see her but it was not always like that. Over 5 years ago he started dialysis and believed his life was over. He would not do anything, just stay in the house. She was honest about everything he would go through and he trusted her so much he called her with all kinds of things not about his vascular access. Donna worked and worked on him to figure out how to get him happy. She explained to him in detail how being on dialysis would allow him to live his life. I will never forget when she said "what do you have to lose". Those words opened his eyes and he started to live again. He lived every day to the fullest even on days he did not feel too good. He turned into the happy man we remembered and loved. He would tell everyone how much Donna helped him.
There were others at the dialysis unit who would also say wonderful things about Donna. I know if she did this for us she has done this for others. We lost my husband a year ago and I wish I had called her to thank her for giving us so much. His last years of life were a gift. Dialysis is very hard on the body but he trusted Donna with his life and we are blessed she was there for us and gave me my husband back.
