Donna received a call from a patient and recognized almost immediately that the patient was in trouble. She asked questions to really understand the depth of the situation and immediately sought help. Once she notified her supervisor of the conversation, she took immediate steps to get help out to the patient's home.
Donna even followed up with the patient later in the day as well as the police department to ensure the patient's safety.
Donna listened to this patient. She recognized immediately that there was a difference in his voice, she asked questions, she was calm, and had patience. If Donna had not acted the outcome could have been very different.
