"Donna always puts the patient first, she is always at the top of rounding with patients, and is there to answer questions and find solutions."
"The ED can be a very chaotic patient care area. Instead of trying to block out the chaos and unpredictability inherent in the department, Donna has learned how to embrace it. She has boldly taken on the challenge of charge nurse with motivation, energy, and professionalism. Donna has vision and sees the possibilities."
"She has intricate knowledge of our department and its needs. Always looking at how things might have been done differently. She is also a great mentor to all new staff. She is proactive; she remains calm in the heat of battle."
Donna, I see the excellence, respect, and professionalism every day you work. Your leadership is concise and accountable, and your approach to difficult situations is so appreciated by your team, and by me. I am so proud of you and the work you do. Many times you have called me before your shift ends to tell me about the patient you advocated for with the physician, because you felt they did not have the support at home or a way to cope with their illness, or the one who did not have a way home and you felt this really warranted a taxi ride, the overdose patient, and the list goes on. You have championed the AIDET and Rounding initiatives, pull to full, and door to doc times.
Your famous words are "I set a daily goal at the huddle, and today the goal is a simple one, we will get through this shift."
Donna, congratulations, thank you for your passion, worthwhile work, and for making a difference.
