I am writing this on behalf of my sister, who delivered her baby boy at Providence. Donna Erving was the most extraordinary nurse. As a young single mother, my sister was very nervous and worried about the birth of her second child and becoming a mother of two, all on her own. Donna was compassionate with my sister the entire time she cared for her. She reassured my sister in the most nurturing ways and made my sister feel comfortable and empowered.
Donna checked with my sister prior to letting any visitors into the room, she wiped tears from my sister's face and embraced her through her pain. She was not only giving her the best care possible but she was being the best support person possible. She coached her when my sister would become anxious and would whisper words of encouragement and comfort. My sister would soon calm down after that while holding her hand.
I could go on and on about the impact Donna made on my sister and my family. I not only got to see Donna as this amazing patient advocate, I also get to see her as the supportive, positive and outgoing member of the Labor and Delivery team. Donna, you are an excellent nurse and embody the core values of Providence. We cannot say Thank you enough.
