Donna Goodridge is a superior support person in her role as coordinator. As clinical educator, she has elevated education to the forefront, keeping it fresh and current. She is excellent at keeping staff informed about upcoming learning opportunities or education that is due. However, besides her role as educator, she deserves the DAISY award for her caring, passionate, and compassionate nature in caring for patients and for staff. Caring for our staff is what gets passed on to our patients, and there have been many times that Donna has done this. A unique situation is described here to exemplify her advocacy and compassion.

When J's wife passed away, Donna became the liaison between him and his staff "family." She went to his home numerous times offering support and comfort. She helped him sort through the needs of someone during a traumatic and difficult time, including arranging meals for an extended period. She even arranged for a hospital representative to speak at the memorial service. There are probably other things that she did as well of which none of us may be aware. Donna's professional and personal ethic of caring has led her to put words into action in assuring that a coworker was not alone during a devastating time. She brought an abundance of caring and love into an overwhelming situation.

Donna continues to bring this abundance to everyone she supports, every day!
