Donna Haber has been with Hospice for over 10 years and in a field where you would think a nurse would burn out quickly, she is still a shining star. She embraces the hospice philosophy and spends much time preparing her patients and family for their final journey. She communicates well with the families and they are always aware of when the next visit is planned.
Families frequently acknowledge their comfort level when they are aware of her visit. She has been with Hospice for so long that she has had several couples, first one spouse then the other. The remaining staff and family are always happy and express their relief that it will be Donna again to help their loved on. Recently, she cared for the son of an elderly woman. When her son passed she expressed her appreciation to Donna for all she did for her son and herself. Donna goes beyond when dealing with her patients and deserves to be honored with the DAISY Award.
