I recently visited the EPAU for an early pregnancy scan because my last pregnancy was an ectopic and resulted in a rupture. I had contacted the bereavement team after my last pregnancy to discuss what had happened. I explained to them that I was struggling to grieve because the situation was so traumatic, and I had some unanswered questions and concerns about some elements of my care. The bereavement team set up a meeting with Donna, and I explained to her what had happened during my whole hospital stay, not just in the EPAU. Donna took my concerns really seriously. She made me feel heard and that my experiences were valid and worth investigating further. When I saw Donna recently at the early pregnancy scan, she took the time to discuss the situation with my husband and me again in private. She let us know what action had been taken as a result of the things I'd said, and it was really reassuring to me. I felt as though, even though what had happened was awful, the fact that she had taken it so seriously and dealt with it in such a professional and respectful way gave me such relief. Although it wasn't easy to have that meeting, I'm so glad I did now. I'm really grateful to Donna for making me feel like my experience mattered.
